Fort Frances Drug Trafficking Investigation Leads to Three Charges After Search Warrant

FORT FRANCES — NetNewsLedger Regional News — Ontario Provincial Police in Fort Frances, working alongside the Treaty Three Police Service, say three people have been arrested and charged following a drug trafficking investigation in the community.

Police report that on February 3, 2026, members of the Rainy River District OPP Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), with assistance from the Kenora Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB) and the Treaty Three Police Street Crime Unit, executed a search warrant in Fort Frances.

Drugs, Cash Seized

As a result of the search, officers seized a quantity of methamphetamine, Canadian currency, and other items police say are consistent with drug trafficking. The estimated combined street value of the drugs and cash seized is approximately $8,000.

Charges Laid

A 17-year-old youth from Toronto has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking — Methamphetamine

  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000

  • Obstruct Peace Officer

Melinda GRUMM, 53, of Fort Frances, has been charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking — Methamphetamine

Dana FOWLER, 49, of Fort Frances, has been charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking — Methamphetamine

The accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Fort Frances at a later date.
