Police Responded to Reported Altercation
THUNDER BAY – One person is facing a series of charges following a Thunder Bay Police Service response to a reported weapons-related incident on Blucher Avenue.
Police report that officers were dispatched to a residence on Blucher Avenue at approximately 6:30 p.m. on December 29, 2025, after reports of an altercation.
Officers arrived and contained the scene, where two residents were located. The suspect had left before police arrived.
Suspect Located at Second Address
While officers were still on scene, police received another call for service from a separate residence on Blucher Avenue. Officers confirmed the suspect was inside that second home.
Members of the Primary Response Unit and Emergency Task Unit arrested the suspect a short time later, police said.

As a result of the investigation, 27-year-old Bryson Matinet of Thunder Bay is charged with:

Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm (two counts) — maximum penalty: up to 5 years imprisonment (indictable)

Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose — maximum penalty: up to 10 years imprisonment (indictable)

Pointing a firearm — maximum penalty: up to 5 years imprisonment (indictable)

Disobeying an order of the court — maximum penalty: up to 2 years imprisonment (indictable)

Unauthorized possession of a firearm — maximum penalty: up to 5 years imprisonment (indictable)

The accused was held in custody for a future court appearance. All accused are considered innocent until proven guilty.
