THUNDER BAY – CITY NEWS – January 8, 2026 – Thunder Bay’s beloved Centennial Botanical Conservatory officially reopens to the public with set hours for 2026, following a well-received soft launch in December that drew large crowds and renewed community interest in the city’s iconic green space.
Public Visiting Hours (Effective January 8, 2026):
📅 Tuesday to Sunday (Closed Mondays)
🕚 11:00 am – 4:00 pm
📍 1601 Dease Street, Thunder Bay
Visitors can once again explore the Tropical Main House, Desert Wing, and any rotating exhibits or activities in the Multi-Purpose Wing. While the Conservatory’s Back-of-House areas remain closed for operational purposes, full production work is underway behind the scenes to support ongoing plant care and exhibit planning.
“The response during the soft launch was incredibly encouraging,” said Guy Walter, Supervisor of Landscape Architecture and Horticulture. “We’re thrilled to welcome the public back and to see our gardens being enjoyed once again.”
Event Bookings Resume in February
Starting in early February 2026, the Conservatory will begin accepting bookings for private events and photography sessions, with the first available dates starting February 17. This marks a new phase of activation for the space, building on the success of its soft reopening.

The Conservatory remains one of Thunder Bay’s most treasured indoor destinations—offering an immersive, year-round experience with lush greenery, educational value, and community connection. Future announcements will include details on expanded programming, seasonal exhibits, and event partnerships as the facility continues to grow its offerings.
