KENORA – REGIONAL AVIATION NEWS – North Star Air is spreading its wings again. In a major boost to Northwestern Ontario’s air connectivity, the Kenora Airport Authority has announced a new partnership with North Star Air to launch direct, scheduled passenger flights between Kenora (YQK) and Thunder Bay (YQT).
Starting Thursday, January 15, 2026, the new route will offer regular passenger service between the two cities, enhancing travel options for residents, businesses, healthcare travellers, and tourists.
The service marks a significant expansion in regional transportation infrastructure and is expected to support economic development, tourism, and healthcare access across Northwestern Ontario.
Direct Flights a Milestone for Regional Access
“This new partnership with North Star Air marks an exciting milestone for the Kenora Airport and our community,” said Ryan Reynard, Chair of the Kenora Airport Authority.
“A direct link to Thunder Bay strengthens our regional transportation network and supports easier access to health services, commerce, business connectivity and general travel opportunities across Northern Ontario and beyond.”

A launch event is being planned at Kenora Airport on Saturday, December 20, 2025, bringing together community members, regional leaders, and airline representatives to celebrate the beginning of this new chapter in Northwestern Ontario aviation.
