Thunder Bay, Ont., July 18, 2025 – A 39-year-old Thunder Bay woman has been charged in connection with two armed robberies at the same convenience store on Oliver Road last month.
According to police, the first incident occurred on Monday, June 23, when a female suspect entered the 300 block of Oliver Road location and concealed merchandise before leaving without paying.
Surveillance footage captured her movements inside the store, and investigators quickly linked the theft to a second, more serious incident just 24 hours later.
On Tuesday, June 24, the same woman returned to the store. When a staff member confronted her, she allegedly produced a weapon and issued verbal threats before fleeing the scene. No one was physically harmed, but employees were left shaken by the display.
The Thunder Bay Police Service’s Behavioural Evidence and Response (BEAR) Unit took over the investigation, examining video evidence and witness statements. Over the following weeks, detectives tracked the suspect’s movements and identified her residence on Windsor Street.
Shortly before noon on Thursday, July 17, officers from the BEAR Unit and the Community Oriented Response and Engagement (CORE) Unit descended on the Windsor Street address.
The woman was located inside and taken into custody without incident.
She has been formally charged with two counts of Robbery with a Weapon under the Criminal Code. Being indicted offences, each count carries a maximum penalty of life imprisonment. The accused appeared in Thunder Bay provincial court on Friday morning, where she was remanded into custody. Her next court date has not yet been set.
Thunder Bay Police Service urged anyone with additional information to contact the department’s non-emergency line at 807-684-1200.
