Like an artist’s painting, our face is a canvas. Makeup helps us express everything about our personality. Makeup could mean many different things to people, such as a way to relax, be creative, or just because they love doing it. Makeup artists aim to bring out the best version of their clients by enhancing their natural features. One such talented and well-known individual in the makeup industry is Aditya Kumar Sharma. At only 24, Aditya has successfully earned a respectable place for himself in the industry. He has become popular amongst celebrities because of how deeply he relates with hair-styling and makeup and how effortless yet elegant his work is. He is here to answer a few questions about his journey as a makeup artist.

Why did you choose to become a makeup artist?

Since childhood, I have been intrigued by the art of makeup. Makeup is not a mask. Instead, it is an expression of creativity and beauty. I followed my dream without caring about the criticism that might come my way for choosing such an unconventional career path. I started my career in 2015 freelancing as a stylist. After gaining some experience as a free-lancer, I took a professional course at the Balaji Group of Institutions, Faizabad. As I moved from Lucknow to the city of dreams, Mumbai, I realized that not everything would be served to me on a platter. I worked hard day and night to reach where I am today.

What do you consider to be your significant career achievements?

In 2018, I was awarded the national level Ravishing Design Awards, which was presented to me by Dia Mirza under the category of Best Bridal and Celebrity Makeup Artist. This was a massive milestone for me in my career. After working hard for two years, I felt that my hard work had finally paid off. I have worked with ZeeTV, SaReGaMa, and various other shows where I styled numerous contestants and jury members. In 2017, I was awarded the Most Favorite Makeup Artist in the Ravishing Beauty & Wellness Awards, which was presented to me by Raveena Tandon. I have also worked with celebrities like Himesh Reshammiya, Raveena Tandon, Neha Kakkar, Pooja Gaur, Ridhi Dogra, Aditya Narayan, Mohit Malik, Samiksha Jaiswal, and Ratan Rajput. In addition to this, I have been hosting various seminars and workshops related to makeup. I always try to keep up with the latest trends and implement them in my art.

Why do you believe that makeup is an art form?

Makeup gives us the ability to express ourselves in the best way possible. For many, wearing, applying, and even removing makeup is an essential form of self-expression. While styling someone, I always try to shine a light on their natural features and personality. Every face is different. Every person’s features are laid out differently, and makeup allows us to see that. I always try to perceive the right kind of look by keeping in mind the occasion.

What is your secret to success?

Coming from a city like Lucknow, I always wanted to set up his makeup studio in his hometown. I have successfully achieved that, which I am very thankful for. I own a makeup studio in Lucknow named ‘Aditya Makeup Studio Academy & Unisex Salon.’ I am proud to have brought such respect and recognition to the town where his roots are. I believe that no dream is ever too big. We can achieve anything if we work hard and believe in ourselves. From bridal makeups to fashion shows, portfolios to party makeovers, I have had the experience to work in every field. I was able to do it because of my love for makeup. The secret ingredients to success are the hunger to make a name for oneself and the happiness that your work should bring to you.
