ARMSTRONG – NEWS – On May 26, 2018, at approximately 5:22 pm, officers from the Armstrong Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a male that had suffered a gunshot wound.

The investigation revealed that three males were at a pit in the area of Obanga Lake Road when one of the males fired a rifle. The bullet ricocheted off an abandoned vehicle, striking one male in the abdomen.

A 22-year-old male was transported to the hospital in Thunder Bay by land ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.

Darius VISSER-DICARLO, 21 years of age, from Conmee Township, was arrested and charged with:

-Careless Use of a Firearm contrary to section 86(1) of the Criminal Code,

-Firearm Use While Committing an Offence contrary to section 85(1)(a) of the Criminal Code,

-Public Mischief contrary to section 140(1)(b) of the Criminal Code.

He is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Armstrong on July 24, 2018, to answer to the charges
