SLATE FALLS – Today, Bob Nault, Member of Parliament (Kenora riding), along with the Honourable Jane Philpott, Minister of Indigenous Services, attended the Grand Opening of the Water Treatment Plant in Slate Falls First Nation.

“Today marks another milestone; another long-term drinking water advisory is lifted in Northwestern Ontario,” said Nault.

The Government of Canada is reporting continued efforts on ending problems in Ontario First Nation communities with boil water advisories. (Full Story)

DRYDEN – CLIMATE – Wanda Mitchell was always involved with woodlands in one way or another. While she was growing up, she would occasionally accompany her father, a logger, to work on Hartman Township’s Turkey Trail woodlots. Mitchell is being recognized for having planted 15,000 trees on her property in Dryden Ontario. (Keep reading)

MMIWG Inquiry

OTTAWA – The National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls today submitted a formal request to the federal government for a 24-month extension of its mandate through to December 31, 2020.

There are many communities and families who are still reaching out to the MMIWG National Inquiry to have their information and the story of their families lost loved ones told.

The submission made to the Minister of Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs highlights work that the National Inquiry has done so far. (Read on…)
