Lakehead Thunderwolves SportsTHUNDER BAY – Sports – The Lakehead University Thunderwolves women’s volleyball team will host the Waterloo Warriors for a pair of matches this weekend, Friday and Saturday evening. Game time is 7PM both nights.

Coach Chris Green commented, “Waterloo is a team that like us is coming into the second half of the season looking to clean up their record to make a playoff run. This team is lead by Clara Tse, a left side who has very solid numbers and both middles are a force at the net. We will be forced to be keep their main players in check in order to have any success. We’ll look to ride the offense from our main attackers Jorie Daymond and Vanessa Chorkawy, along the strong passing and digging of Breanne Hilhorst.”

The Thunderwolves women’s volleyball team finished the first half of their season winning 3 of 5 games and currently sit in 8th place in the OUA (out of 13 teams) with a record of 3-8. Thunderwolves’ Right Side Vanessa Chorkawy currently sits in 3rd in the CIS in kills per set at 3.98 and 6th in the country in points per set with 4.3. Jorie Daymond ranks 5th in the nation in kills per set with 3.73.

With much progress made prior to the winter break, the T-wolves are playing their best ball heading into the stretch of their schedule. This weekend’s games will be two of their remaining 5 home games during the regular season.

The Waterloo Warriors are led by Clara Tse with 3.6 points and 3.2 digs per set. Like Lakehead (CIS #3 Digs per set), the Warriors are a tough digging team (CIS #8 DPS), which should make for a full weekend of exciting volleyball with extended rallies.
