Thunder Bay – News – Confederation College and Collège Boréal have signed a five-year partnership agreement to jointly deliver the Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP) program in Northeastern Ontario. Thanks to a $279,000 investment from the Government of Ontario, this collaboration will make the ACP program more accessible to paramedics who are already certified professionals, providing advanced training through a flexible, blended learning model.
“This partnership reflects our shared commitment to improving access to advanced paramedic education across Northern Ontario,” said Shane Strickland, Dean of Academic Programming, Confederation College. “By combining the strengths of both institutions, we’re helping paramedics build on their existing expertise through flexible, high-quality training that supports the evolving needs of our communities.”
About the program and partnership
The ACP program, recognized and currently delivered by Confederation College, is designed for practising paramedics seeking to advance their skills and qualifications. Thanks to this new agreement, Collège Boréal will now host the program at its Sudbury campus, expanding regional access and supporting the ongoing professional development of emergency medical personnel.
As part of Boréal’s Continuing Education and Corporate Training offer, the program is delivered using a combination of online virtual classrooms, in-person instruction, laboratory sessions, and independent study. Both institutions collaborate on curriculum development, quality assurance, and annual program reviews to ensure the highest standards of education and compliance with provincial and accreditation requirements.
Key features of the agreement
- Joint program delivery: Confederation College’s ACP program is now offered at Collège Boréal, with both institutions working together on curriculum, quality assurance, and student support.
- Support for certified paramedics: The program is open to paramedics who have already obtained recognized qualifications and are seeking advanced training.
