NIPIGON – REGIONAL NEWS – Highway 17 is fully closed in both directions between Nipigon and Schreiber due to poor road conditions and multiple stuck transport trucks.
The closure was reported by Nipigon OPP, who advised that the shutdown will remain in place until conditions improve and the affected vehicles can be cleared from the highway.
The closure affects a critical stretch of the Trans-Canada Highway along the North Shore, and motorists are being urged to avoid the area and delay travel plans.
Poor road conditions continue to create hazardous driving across the region, with snow, reduced visibility, and slippery surfaces contributing to dangerous travel.
