Thunder Bay – NEWS – Highway 17 is fully closed in both directions between Shabaqua Corners and Upsala following a multi-vehicle collision involving three transport trucks and a pickup truck.

One Person Taken to Hospital

Emergency responders attended the scene and one person has been transported to hospital. At this time, injuries have not been confirmed.

Major Route Disruption for Northwestern Ontario

This stretch of Highway 17 is a critical section of the Trans-Canada corridor for commercial traffic and travellers moving between Thunder Bay and communities to the west, and the closure is expected to cause significant delays. Motorists are urged to avoid the area and plan for alternate arrangements until the highway reopens.
