MIHRSOU says James Sheldon Jasper, 49, is considered high risk to sexually reoffend against children
WINNIPEG — The Manitoba Integrated High Risk Sex Offender Unit (MIHRSOU), a joint unit of the Winnipeg Police Service and the RCMP, has issued a public advisory regarding James Sheldon Jasper, 49, a convicted sex offender police say is high risk to sexually reoffend against children, particularly male children.
Police say the advisory is being issued to help the public take reasonable precautions and to encourage timely reporting of information.
Release date and current sentence
MIHRSOU states Jasper is scheduled to be released from Headingley Correctional Centre on January 10, 2026, after serving a sentence for failing to comply with a condition of a probation order.
Police say Jasper was convicted on December 12, 2024, receiving a sentence of 30 months (less time in custody) and a two-year probation order.
He is expected to take up residence in Winnipeg.
