15 cm Overnight Snowfall Brings Drifting Across Thunder Bay
THUNDER BAY — City crews are continuing snow removal efforts today after approximately 15 cm of snow fell overnight, with strong winds causing significant drifting in many areas.
Priority Routes Cleared First
Road crews began plowing priority routes—including arterial roads, collector streets, and transit corridors—at 2:00 a.m. The City expects this work to be completed shortly.
Residential Plowing Starts After 9 a.m.
Plowing of residential streets is scheduled to begin after 9:00 a.m., once priority routes are complete. Residential plowing is expected to wrap up by the end of Wednesday.
Sidewalks and Trails
Sidewalk clearing on arterial, collector, and core-area streets began at 3:00 a.m. and is expected to be finished by the end of today. Crews will then move to residential sidewalks and trails, with completion targeted by end of day Thursday.
Sanding and Salting Ongoing
Sanding and salting operations started at 5:00 p.m. yesterday and continued overnight. Residential streets will be sanded once priority routes have been completed.
