Incident Reported on Saturn Avenue Extension

ATIKOKAN, ON — Ontario Provincial Police in Atikokan are investigating a fatal single-vehicle snowmobile collision.

Police say the crash happened Thursday, January 1, 2026, at about 11:00 a.m. on the Saturn Avenue extension. Atikokan OPP were called to the scene along with Atikokan Fire and Rescue Service and Rainy River District Emergency Medical Services.

22-Year-Old Pronounced Dead

A 22-year-old Atikokan resident was transported to hospital, where they were pronounced deceased.

TIME Team Assisting Investigation

The OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) team is assisting with the ongoing investigation.
