LAC SEUL FIRST NATION – December 25, 2025 – Lac Seul Police responded to a reported domestic disturbance on the evening of December 24, 2025, which led to both assault and drug-related charges being laid against one individual.
Police allege that a 38-year-old Lac Seul resident, Tyrone Trout, was involved in an incident in which a woman, was assaulted and choked. Upon attending the scene, officers also located and seized 264 grams of cocaine and 50 grams of crystal methamphetamine.
As a result of the investigation, Tyrone Trout (born November 11, 1987) has been charged with the following Criminal Code and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) offences:

Assault (Section 266, Criminal Code)

Overcoming resistance by choking, suffocating, or strangling (Section 246(a), Criminal Code)

Possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking (Section 5(2), CDSA)

Possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking (Section 5(2), CDSA)
Trout was transported to Kenora Jail on December 25, 2025, and remains in custody. He is scheduled to appear in Sioux Lookout Bail Court on December 29, 2025.

Assault and choking-related charges are serious offences. If convicted, the accused could face a maximum penalty of 10 years for the choking charge and up to 5 years for assault.

Possession for the purpose of trafficking is an indictable offence under federal drug laws. Convictions can result in life imprisonment, particularly when large quantities are involved.
These charges are now before the courts, and the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
