Thunder Bay – NEWS – Northwestern Ontario’s aviation and logistics sector gets a community-facing spotlight this weekend, with North Star Air inviting residents to an official launch event at the airport on Saturday, December 20, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. CST.

Organizers say those who attend may have a chance to win round-trip tickets and pick up North Star Air swag during the event.

Kenora Airport Authorityhas announced the new partnership with North Star Air to launch direct, scheduled passenger flights between Kenora (YQK) and Thunder Bay (YQT) in early December.

Starting Thursday, January 15, 2026, the new route will offer regular passenger service between the two cities, enhancing travel options for residents, businesses, healthcare travellers, and tourists.

A Regional Carrier with a Northern Focus

Headquartered in Thunder Bay, North Star Air operates passenger, charter, and cargo services that support travel and supply chains across remote and northern communities.

The company’s published route and destination information highlights scheduled passenger service that helps connect Northern Indigenous communities through key hubs including Sioux Lookout and Thunder Bay, linking people and essential services across long distances.

Fleet Built for Northern Conditions

North Star Air notes it operates a fleet of 20 aircraft serving 54+ destinations, with aircraft types designed for northern operations.

One example is the Pilatus PC-12, which the company describes as capable of operating into short gravel strips and variable conditions, supporting mixed passenger-and-freight needs.

North Star Air also operates with DASH 8 aircraft.
