Thunder Bay — Thunder Bay Fire Rescue (TBFR) quickly brought a structural fire under control Monday evening in the 1100 block of Walsh Street.
The first-arriving crew reported smoke on the second floor of a 2½-storey building, prompting a second alarm that added two more pumpers and an aerial ladder to the scene. Thanks to a rapid interior attack, firefighters contained the blaze and limited damage to the structure and contents.
No injuries were reported to residents or firefighters.
TBFR is reminding the public to install and maintain working smoke and carbon monoxide alarms on every level of the home, and to test them regularly. Early warning saves lives.
The cause of the fire and a damage estimate were not immediately available.
