Police continue search for suspect; public no longer believed to be at risk, say NAPS officials
BRUNSWICK HOUSE FIRST NATION – The Nishnawbe Aski Police Service (NAPS) has lifted the shelter-in-place advisory issued for Brunswick House First Nation following a shooting incident that occurred on Sunday, October 12.
Following an extensive preliminary investigation, police have determined there is no ongoing threat to public safety connected to the incident. However, the search for a male suspect continues, and the investigation remains active.
What Happened?
Officers from NAPS were dispatched in response to a disturbance call at a private residence on Sunday afternoon. Upon arrival, they located an injured male victim. While full details regarding the extent of the injuries have not been released, police have confirmed the wounds are not believed to be life-threatening.
Search for Suspect Ongoing
The NAPS Major Crimes Unit is leading the investigation, with support from the Emergency Response Team, frontline officers, and members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP). Efforts to locate the suspect are active, and police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
