Patrol officers recover victim’s cards and ID; both accused released on appearance notices

SAULT STE. MARIE – REGIONAL CRIME UPDATE (Oct. 11, 2025)Sault Ste. Marie Police Service media release — Two people have been charged after a wallet was reportedly stolen from a vehicle in the 200 block of Queen Street East and a credit card was used shortly afterward.

Timeline

  • ~9:45 p.m. — 911 Communicators received a report of a wallet stolen from a vehicle; the victim’s credit card had already been used.

  • Shortly after — Officers located two suspects matching descriptions near Wellington Street East and Blucher Street.

  • Search results — Police say a search of the first accused (female, Sara Rowlinson, 42) located the victim’s credit card. A search of the second accused (male, Jeremy Rowlinson, 19) found the victim’s wallet, credit cards, and identification.

  • Investigation — It’s alleged the first accused made purchases at two businesses using the stolen card.

First Accused: Sara Rowlinson, 42 (Sault Ste. Marie)

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – Under $5,000

  • Unauthorized Use of Credit Card Data ×2

Second Accused: Jeremy Rowlinson, 19 (Sault Ste. Marie)

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – Under $5,000

  • Theft – Under $5,000

Both were arrested and later released on appearance notices. They are scheduled to appear in court on December 8, 2025. The accused are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
