Charges dropped against individual arrested at the scene; investigation remains active

THUNDER BAY – NEWS – The Thunder Bay Police Service (TBPS) continues its investigation into a firearms-related incident that occurred in the early morning hours of Thursday, September 25 in the city’s south core.

Officers with the Primary Response Unit were dispatched just after 1:00 a.m. to the area near May and Bethune Streets following a report involving a weapon. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

During the initial response, a suspect was taken into custody. However, further investigation by the TBPS Major Crimes Unit has since determined that the individual arrested at the scene was not the person responsible for the firearms offence.

As a result, Marian George Dodu was released the following day, and all charges laid against him have been formally dismissed.

The Thunder Bay Police Service emphasized that the case remains active and ongoing, and investigators are continuing efforts to identify and locate the individual responsible.
