Victim Pronounced Deceased
SIOUX LOOKOUT, ON — The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say one person has died in connection with an ongoing serious assault investigation in Sioux Lookout. The victim has been identified as Tyrone (Tye) Lawrence KAKEPETUM, 34, of Sioux Lookout.
Incident Timeline
On Friday, August 22, 2025, shortly before 6:00 p.m., officers from the Sioux Lookout Detachment responded to a residence on Millar Crescent, where one individual was found with life-threatening injuries and transported to hospital.
On Friday, August 29, 2025, the individual was pronounced deceased.
Investigation Continues
A postmortem examination was conducted at the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service (OFPS) in Toronto. The Sioux Lookout OPP Crime Unit is continuing the investigation under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), in partnership with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the OFPS.
