THUNDER BAY: OPP Impounds Vehicle After 105 km/h in 50 Zone on Highway 102

THUNDER BAY, ON – NEWS — At approximately 1:28 a.m. on September 4, 2025, Thunder Bay OPP responded to a traffic complaint on Highway 102 within the City of Thunder Bay.

Officers observed a vehicle traveling 105 km/h in a posted 50 km/h zone and initiated a traffic stop. Following the investigation, the vehicle was impounded for 14 days.

Charges Laid

A 38-year-old from Maple, Ontario has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act and the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act with:

  • Drive Motor Vehicle — Perform Stunt — Excessive Speed

  • Driving While Under Suspension

  • Operate a Motor Vehicle Without Insurance
