ATTAWAPISKAT – REGIONAL CRIME BULLETIN – Three individuals have been charged after a coordinated drug enforcement operation in Attawapiskat First Nation led to the seizure of methamphetamine, oxycodone, and cash.
On the morning of Tuesday, July 22, members of the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service (NAPS) Intelligence Unit and Emergency Response Team executed a search warrant at a private residence in the community. The search was the result of an ongoing investigation into suspected drug trafficking activity within the remote James Bay community.
Upon entry, officers arrested three individuals without incident. A subsequent search of the premises yielded:

Suspected oxycodone tablets

Crystal methamphetamine and methamphetamine pills

A quantity of Canadian currency
Police estimate the street value of the seized drugs to be approximately $16,000.

Release Conditions & Court Proceedings
All three accused were released from custody on conditions and are scheduled to appear in court at a later date. As per standard legal protocol, names of the accused will be released only after charges are formally sworn before the court.
The investigation remains active, and NAPS is continuing its efforts to combat the flow of illicit drugs into Northern communities.
