Special Air Quality Statement in Effect

THUNDER BAY – WEATHER – Another smokey day due to wildfires across western Canada. Today will also be hot and humid so take special care, especially for people with lung and respiratory issues.

Environment Canada has issued a Special Air Quality Statement for Thunder Bay, as smoke from wildfires in northern Ontario continues to reduce visibility and air quality across the city and surrounding region.

Westerly winds are pulling smoke into the area and conditions are expected to remain poor through today and possibly into Tuesday. Residents are urged to limit outdoor activity and follow public health guidance to stay safe.
