One victim in life-threatening condition; investigators urge witnesses to come forward

CALGARY – NATIONAL NEWS: Calgary Police are investigating a serious assault incident that occurred during the Calgary Stampede on Tuesday, July 8, resulting in three individuals being hospitalized, including one man in life-threatening condition.

Police believe this was a targeted assault. The violent incident took place around 11:05 p.m. near the Euroslide attraction on the Midway, one of the busiest areas of the Stampede grounds.

Upon arrival, officers found a man in medical distress and immediately transported him to hospital, where he remains in life-threatening but stable condition.

Two More Victims Found Nearby

Shortly after the initial call, police received reports of two additional individuals in distress:

  • A youth located near 17th Avenue S.E. and Macleod Trail S.E.

  • A man near Erlton Street S.W. and 27th Avenue S.W.

Investigators have since confirmed that all three individuals were victims of the same assault on the Stampede Midway.

Both the youth and the second adult victim were taken to hospital and are currently listed in serious but stable condition.

Suspects at Large – Police Seeking Witnesses and Video

At this time, no arrests have been made, and investigators do not believe the incident was random. Police are working to identify suspects and are appealing to the public for assistance.

“We believe several witnesses were in the area during the altercation, and some may have recorded the incident on their cellphones,” police stated.

Anyone who witnessed the assault or captured video footage from the Stampede Midway around the time of the incident is urged to come forward.
