Significant Snowfall Expected for Far Northern Ontario

THUNDER BAY – WEATHER – Snow is in the forecast for Pickle Lake, Cat Lake, and Wunnumun Lake. The snow, possibly heavy at times, will develop on Friday and gradually taper off on Saturday. This snowfall event could result in total accumulations of 10 to 20 cm. Furthermore, there is a possibility of areas of blowing snow on Friday night into Saturday morning, driven by increasing northerly winds gusting up to 50 km/h.

It’s important to note that the heaviest snowfall amounts are currently expected over the Sandy Lake region, where a snowfall warning is in effect. It’s also possible that the snowfall warning may need to be extended to cover other regions.

Timing: Snowfall is expected to begin on Friday and taper off by Saturday.
