A major winter storm is expect to hit southern Saskatchewan and Manitoba early Monday lasting until Tueday

SACHIGO LAKE – WEATHER – Winter continues its march forward. Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for Big Trout Lake, Kasabonika, Sachigo Lake, Sandy Lake, Weogamow Lake, Deer Lake, Summer Beaver, Wunnummin Lake, Kingfisher Lake, and Bearskin Lake.

Snowfall warning in effect for:

  • Big Trout Lake – Kasabonika
  • Sachigo Lake – Bearskin Lake
  • Sandy Lake – Weagamow Lake – Deer Lake
  • Summer Beaver – Wunnummin Lake – Kingfisher Lake

Snow at times heavy is expected on Saturday.

Snow at times heavy is expected to begin Friday overnight persist throughout the day on Saturday and taper off to scattered flurries by Saturday evening. Snowfall totals of 15 to 20 centimeters are expected with this event, however snow totals will be less in areas where the snow mixes with rain. Strong wind gusts and blowing snow are also possible in some areas that may reduce visibility.

This snow event is associated with a strengthening low-pressure system that is forecast to track eastwards across northern Ontario on Saturday and Saturday night.
