WEATHER – Northwestern Ontario Winter Storm Update 3

THUNDER BAY – Weather – Almost all of Northern Ontario is under a weather warning or advisory.

For the southern parts of the region, Environment Canada has updated the snowfall warning. The snow in the city is expected to be heavy at times this morning before it tapers off later this afternoon.

In the city roads crews are starting the job of clearing major roadways, focusing on bus routes and main roads first.

Across the region, before heading out, check 511 for highway conditions. If you don’t have to travel consider postponing that trip.

Snowfall warning in effect for:

  • City of Thunder Bay

A significant snowfall will continue today into this evening.

Snow, heavy at times, will continue with up to an additional 5 to 10 cm of snow today. This is forecast to bring total snowfall accumulations up to 15 to 25 cm before the snow tapers to flurries this evening.

Northerly winds gusting up to 50 km/h are expected tonight and will also create areas of blowing snow giving reduced visibilities at times.
