Chamber of Commerce Hosts Prosperity Northwest Trade Show

THUNDER BAY – BUSINESS – The Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce Prosperity Northwest Tradeshow will be held 11:30am – 5:00pm on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at the Da Vinci Centre.  This half-day business forum will feature informative topics and interactive displays that highlight regional opportunities in forestry, energy, mining, manufacturing and procurement.

Dr. Zhirun Yuan, Senior Manager – Industrial Technology Integration at FPInnovations will open the event with a luncheon keynote presentation on “Cutting-edge Technology Meets Forestry” highlighting the exciting new thermo-mechanical-pulp biorefinery plant at Resolute Forest Products’ Thunder Bay Pulp & Paper Mill.

The Energy Opportunities panel at 1:45pm features Jennifer Tidmarsh of NextEra Energy Transmission – Canada and Daryl Skworchinski of Northeast Midstream – Northshore Gas Project for a discussion of the energy infrastructure projects planned along the north shore of Lake Superior.

During the Mining Opportunities panel at 3:20pm, Wayne Scott of North American Palladium will provide an overview of the recent expansion at Lac des Iles Mine and Robyn Gaebel of Treasury Metals Inc will give an update on the next steps for the Goliath Gold Project in Dryden.

The afternoon also includes two roundtable discussions:

3:00pm – Dan Munshaw, Manager, Supply Management for the City of Thunder Bay will discuss the City’s enhanced procurement processes

4:20pm – David Sword, Independent Contractor will discuss regional manufacturing, suppliers and job creation with a focus on Bill C-69.
