Winnipeg Police Investigating Homicide of 17-Year-Old

WINNIPEG – CRIME – On March 3, 2019, at approximately 9:00 pm, Winnipeg Police Central Division officers responded to a report of a residential Break & Enter in progress at a home in the 700 block of McGee St. Information received at the time was that a 17-year-old male resident was home alone with his grandmother.

Police are stating this is a “Senseless crime” and was “Completely random”.

General Patrol officers arrived within minutes and entered the home where they located a 17-year-old being assaulted by an intruder with a weapon. In order to stop the threat officers discharged their firearm striking the attacker.

The 17-year-old victim and the 29-year-old accused were both conveyed to the hospital in critical condition. The 17-year-old victim has since succumbed to his injuries. The accused remains in hospital in critical condition.

The Winnipeg Police Homicide Unit is now investigating the murder of Jaime ADAO, 17.

The Independent Investigation Unit has assumed responsibility for the officer-involved shooting. This is the Manitoba version of the Special Investigation Unit in Ontario.
