OPP Update on Ongoing Investigation that has Oliver Road Closed

THUNDER BAY – On September 26, 2018, at approximately 2:43 a.m., officers from the Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a robbery that occurred at a residence on Lakeshore Drive in the Municipality of Shuniah.

It was reported that assailants left the residence in a dark coloured sedan. The vehicle was located by police on Oliver Road and a Spike Belt Tire Deflation Device was utilized to bring the vehicle to a stop. One male was located and arrested at the scene, and officers continue to search for people that fled from the vehicle.

Officers from the OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), OPP Canine Unit and Thunder Bay Police Service officers responded to the scene. The OPP Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) has also been utilized at the scene.

Currently, officers are on scene at Oliver Road and Oliver Road is closed between Gratton Road and Twin City Crossroads.

The investigation is continuing. More information will be provided as it becomes available.
