THUNDER BAY – WILDFIRE UPDATE – There are currently no active forest fires in the Northeast Region.

The forest fire hazard is low across the region, with the exception an area between Grundy Lake Provincial Park and Port Severn along the Hwy 69/400 corridor; and between Powassan and the Severn River along the Hwy 11 corridor, which is presenting a moderate hazard.

Think wildfires are just a problem in the summer?

Think again. Spring is grass fire season and grass fires can be a deadly and destructive menace. Seek alternatives to spring burning by considering composting or using your local landfill. Don’t be the reason behind a spring wildfire this year.

Did you know that it’s illegal to fly a drone within 9 km of a forest fire?

Flying drones around forest fires is dangerous and illegal.

When you fly a drone near a forest fire you can put the lives of pilots, firefighters and other emergency workers at risk.

Be safe and stay clear of forest fires.
