Store Staff and Bystanders Assist in Arrest of Robbery Suspect

Crime ReportTHUNDER BAY – On December 7, 2017, at 12:50 p.m. officers attended an incident at the corner of Algoma Street and Ambrose Street after reports of a robbery that occurred in Maltese Grocery.

Police state that a 73-year-old male was paying for his purchase when a 26-year-old male grabbed for his wallet. A struggle ensued and bystanders came to assist to subdue the suspect. The suspect was released and he ran southbound on Algoma Street.

The suspect got away and he ran southbound on Algoma Street.

Staff from Maltese Grocery followed the male and identified him to the police when they arrived on scene. He was arrested at Algoma Street and Ambrose Street. No individuals were injured with respect to the incident.

Jeff Calvin Sharp, a 26-year-old male from Thunder Bay has been charged with Robbery. Sharp has appeared in court and has been remanded into custody.
