Thunder Storm Warning

THUNDER BAY – 06:00EDT – Storm Warning Ended –  Back to the storm zone. There are weather warnings and advisories out across the southern part of Northwestern Ontario.

Severe thunderstorm watch in effect for:

  • City of Thunder Bay

Severe Thunderstorm Warning in effect for:

 

  • Dryden – Vermilion Bay
  • Ignace – English River

 

Conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing damaging wind gusts, damaging hail and heavy rain.

A warm and humid airmass over portions of northwestern Ontario is giving way to scattered thunderstorms. Large hail and severe winds are expected to be the primary threats.

Very large hail can damage property, break windows, dent vehicles and cause serious injury. Very strong wind gusts can damage buildings, down trees and blow large vehicles off the road. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Emergency Management Ontario recommends that you take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches.
