Hydro Rate Reduction Results in Higher Bills

Thunder Bay Hydro customers impacted by power outage

Thunder Bay, ON – The Ontario Energy Board (OEB) has approved a local distribution revenue decrease in the amount of 0.26% (one quarter of a percentage point) for Thunder Bay Hydro Electricity Distribution Inc.

However, the OEB decision also includes other line items such as electricity charges for electricity supplied, transmission and regulatory charges. The resulting overall impact on customer bills will be an increase of one cent or .01% on overall residential bills.

Bill impacts for the rate order are as follows:

Overall % monthly Overall $ monthly Residential Customer: 800 kWh / month + .01% + $0.01

Small Business Customer: 2000 kWh / month + .32% + $1.18

These changes will take place for electricity consumers as of May 1, 2016.

The provincial has also announced new Time of Use prices for summer time periods.
