Thunder Bay Council Hears Preliminary Report

THUNDER BAY – Ipsos Reid presented preliminary findings of the survey commissioned by the City of Thunder Bay to Council tonight. The Survey which cost a reported $43,000 on the proposed event centre seemed to focus on what the City Administration needs to do in order to promote the centre to city taxpayers.

In the survey a proposed 1% or 1.5% property tax increase was presented and seemingly gained acceptance by a majority.

Neebing Ward Councillor Rydholm expressed concern that the rate of a property tax increase was being put forward in the survey as it was, and hoped that the media would not report that issue as the purpose of the survey.

The presentation found that 61 per cent of residents surveyed are supportive of the Event Centre at some level of support.
