Child Porn Arrest in Thunder Bay

THUNDER BAY – Thunder Bay Police announce they have made an arrest in a child pornography case. A now former non-full-time instructor at Confederation College is now behind bars in the Thunder Bay District Jail. Police report, “On the morning of November 14th, 2013, members of the Thunder Bay Police Service arrested a Thunder Bay man and executed a search warrant at North Harold Street residence in search of child pornography images”.

The Thunder Bay Police Cyber Crime Unit initiated an investigation in May 2012 when they became aware of a Thunder Bay internet user utilizing a peer to peer file sharing network. Investigator flagged 244 suspected child pornography files and continued the investigation to confirm that the files were indeed child pornography.

In late October 2013, three videos were obtained and confirmed to be child pornography. A search warrant was prepared and executed with the arrest of 38 year old Dan Nawrocki at his North Harold Street residence yesterday morning.

Investigators seized 15 computers, 6 hard drives and an estimated 10,000 DVD’s. The examination process of the seized items will take months to complete due to the sheer volume of items seized in order to determine the number of images in his possession.

Dan Nawrocki has been charged with:
. Possession of Child Pornography
. Making Child Pornography Available
