THUNDER BAY – The efforts to make residents impacted by May’s flood are continuing. Today the Disaster Relief Committee reports, “After over six months of fundraising, $1,172,865 has been raised to date”.

“As the season of giving is upon us, we are asking citizens and organizations to remember the Disaster Relief Fund,” said Wayne Fletcher, Chair of the DRC.  “We are grateful for the donations made to date, and are asking the community to dig a little deeper to help their neighbours in need.”

The DRC will continue its fundraising efforts until January 31, 2013.

“We know that a number of corporations determine the direction for charitable giving early in the new year. We’re hoping that January provides us with the opportunity to leverage some of these funds” Fletcher continued Every dollar the DRC raises, the Province of Ontario will match by two – $1 becomes $3.
