THUNDER BAY – Heathbeat – Fall is in the air. Back to school signals the return to many routines, including the monthly meetings of the Health Sciences Foundation Board of Directors. To kick the year off, they started with an Annual General Meeting on September 26.

There were several exciting changes for the board, including the introduction of a new Chair of the Board of Directors – David Knutson. Dave is no stranger to the Foundation and has been involved with the board, in a number of roles since 2006. “I’m looking forward to being Chair and helping guide our meetings. This is an engaged and committed group of people. I’m very proud to work with them,” says Knutson.

Brian McKinnon, chair for the last two years, is moving to the position of Past Chair. Brian has been a dedicated volunteer since 1995. From the Board of Directors to special events like the Tony Villeneuve Memorial Auto Rally, Brian has been a passionate advocate for healthcare in our region. “I know the Foundation has made a difference and I believe donors secure a bright future for healthcare,” said McKinnon.

The volunteer Board of Directors includes a variety of individuals. They offer a wide spectrum of perspectives, including representation from various professions such as the medical, legal, financial, architectural and engineering sectors, local businesses and citizens of the region. Board members from outside Thunder Bay are knowledgeable about regional challenges and keep the Foundation in tune with what is happening in communities throughout Northwestern Ontario. They are a passionate group of volunteers, proud of the care the Health Sciences Centre offers. They work diligently to provide leadership and guidance in raising and distributing funds to further the Foundation’s objectives.

“We are fortunate to have such a dedicated group of Board Directors,” said Glenn Craig, President & CEO, Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation. “I appreciate their time, talent and resources for the betterment of healthcare for all of us. They truly deserve our thanks.”
