Background: Included in the 2010 Province of Ontario budget was an announcement about “partnering with Sudbury and Thunder Bay to establish pilot economic development planning areas”. The concept of regional economic planning was subsequently detailed in the 2011 Growth Plan for Northern Ontario. To steer the process in the Northwest, the Joint Task Force on Northwestern Ontario Economic Development Planning (Northwestern JTF) was formed in the spring 2010 to play a lead role in developing a proposed model and implementation plan for regional economic development planning.
Tonight, Thunder Bay City Councillor and Chair of the Thunder Bay District Social Services Administration Board is making a presentation.
