Beardmore – OPP Lay Drug and Weapons Charges Against Three Suspects

BEARDMORE – NEWS – Police continue their ongoing battle to combat dangerous and illegal drugs in Northern Ontario.

On November 8, 2019, members of the Greenstone Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) executed a search warrant on a residence in Beardmore, Ontario.

As a result of the search, police seized a quantity of drugs and weapons.

Rebekka MORENCY, 30 years-old of Greenstone, ON has been charged with the following offences:

  • 3 counts of Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
  • Possession of a Schedule III Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
  • Possession of a Schedule IV Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
  • 3 counts of Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose contrary to section 88 of the Criminal Code.
  • Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to a Prohibition Order contrary to section 117.01(1) of the Criminal Code.

Trisha WABASON, 30 years-old also of Greenstone, ON has been charged with the following offences:

  • 3 counts of Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
  • Possession of a Schedule III Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
  • Possession of a Schedule IV Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
  • 3 counts of Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose contrary to section 88 of the Criminal Code.

Travis JACKSON, 38 years-old of Winnipeg, MB has been charged with the following offences:

  • 3 counts of Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
  • Possession of a Schedule III Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
  • Possession of a Schedule IV Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
  • 3 counts of Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose contrary to section 88 of the Criminal Code.
  • Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to a Prohibition Order contrary to section 117.01(1) of the Criminal Code.
  • Fail to Comply with an Undertaking contrary to section 145(3) of the Criminal Code.
  • Fail to Comply with a Probation Order contrary to section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code.

JACKSON was also arrested in relation to an Arson to a Commercial Property in Longlac, Ontario that occurred on September 18, 2019. Greenstone OPP had been continuing to investigate this incident and as a result JACKSON was further charged with the following offences:

  • Arson- Damage to Property contrary to section 434 of the Criminal Code.
  • Fail to Comply with a Probation Order contrary to section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code.

All three accused made a brief court appearance on Saturday November 9, 2019 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay by video and were remanded into custody.

As a result of a publication ban imposed by the court, no further information can be released.
