EDMONTON – SPORTS – The Toronto Maple Leafs won a commanding victory over the Edmonton Oilers on Wednesday.
Jimmy Vesey scored two goals, Jason Spezza had three assists, as the Toronto Maple Leafs completed a three-game sweep of the Edmonton Oilers with a 6-1 win at Rogers Place.
The Maple Leafs fell one goal short of a third straight shutout against the Oilers when Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scored in the second period.
“I thought it was a really good road trip for our team, Edmonton was red hot coming in and were chasing us in the standings,” Vesey said. “To win three games like that so decisively, I think it’s a real step of growth for our team.”
