EDMONTON – SPORTS – The Maple Leafs fell short in overtime when Edmonton Oiler Connor McDavid scored his second goal of the game only forty-two seconds into overtime.
Edmonton Oilers pulled out a 4-3 win against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday.
“I thought it was a good hockey game,” stated Edmonton Oilers coach Dave Tippett. “The only thing that game was missing was fans, that would have made it a great game. The star players were in full force and I thought both teams competed hard, and we got a couple of good saves from [Koskinen] and we were able to capitalize in overtime.”
Montreal Canadiens vs Calgary Flames
MONTREAL – The Flames shut out the Canadiens on Saturday night winning 2-0 and breaking their three game losing streak on Saturday night in the Hab’s home rink.
Jacob Markstrom made 37 saves in the win for his second shutout of the season.
This is the first time this season that the Canadiens have lost in regulation. The lose has ending Montreal’s seven-game point streak.
Jacob Markstrom said, after the game, “When shots were coming, I was seeing the puck. And if I didn’t see the puck it means our guys were blocking shots and clearing rebounds, so it made my job a heck of a lot easier. So that was a big win for us to come back here and win after some games where we weren’t happy and satisfied with the results.”
Vancouver vs Jets
WINNIPEG – Brock Boeser scored two goals, and the Vancouver Canucks won their fourth straight game, 4-1 against the Winnipeg Jets at Bell MTS Place on Saturday.
Brock Boeser is leading the NHL scoring so far this season with eight goals.
Saturday was Boeser’s fourth two-goal game this season.
“I think my shot is feeling really good, obviously,” says Boeser. “I mean, obviously there’s been issues with injuries in the past, but I’ve been feeling good and I’ve been really focusing on staying healthy and feeling good on the ice. And I think it’s showing and I’m feeling confident out there and feel like I’m moving well.”
