hospice northwest angelsTHUNDER BAY – Events – The holiday season can prove difficult and lonely for those dealing with the death of a loved one. Hospice Northwest are reaching out with a candlelight memorial service on December 6th, at 7PM at Trinity United Church. “People need to have their grief acknowledged, their losses validated”, said Joan Williams, executive director with Hospice Northwest. “This service offers a special space to express feelings of sadness and loss amidst the busyness of the holiday season”.

In a show of community support and remembrance, AIDS Thunder Bay and The Compassionate Friends are partnering with Hospice Northwest this year to present the memorial.

The partnership builds on the collaboration established at last year’s service with Trinity United and St. Paul’s Anglican Church. As December 6th marks the massacre at at E’cole Polytechnique, Lakehead University’s Gender Issues Center will also take part in the service in honour of the lives lost that day.

In another gesture of community outreach, Trinity United is live-streaming the service so that distant family and friends can log in and join together to remember those they have lost. The service will include music, readings, and candle lighting. Visit Trinity United online.

Hospice Northwest will also have their memorial keepsake Wings of Remembrance Ornaments available for sale after the service. The ornaments come in three styles, and can be personalized in tribute to a loved one who has passed away. Trinity United Church is located at 30 South Algoma Street.
