KENORA – WEATHER – Its into the cold zone for parts of Western Ontario. The combination of cold temperatures and wind chill values of near -40C have Environment Canada issuing Extreme Cold Warnings.

A cold Arctic airmass will give frigid temperatures to portions of northwestern Ontario.

Temperatures in the minus thirties along with winds of 5 to 10 km/h will produce extreme cold wind chills near minus 40.

Extreme Cold Warning in effect for:

  • Kenora – Grassy Narrows – Whitedog
  • Sioux Narrows – Nestor Falls – Morson
  • Dryden – Vermilion Bay
  • Ignace – English River
  • Savant Lake – Sturgeon Lake
  • Sioux Lookout – Eastern Lac Seul

When: Tonight into Tuesday morning and Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.

Where: Red Lake, Kenora, Dryden and Ignace, Sioux Lookout region.

Actions: Dress warmly and watch for cold related symptoms: shortness of breath, chest pain, muscle pain and weakness, numbness and colour change in fingers and toes.
