24 Case Jump in COVID-19 – Shows How Fast Cases Can Increase

Thunder Bay – Across Ontario the number of active COVID-19 cases has significantly dropped. Ontario is reporting 1,913 cases of COVID-19. However Minister of Health Christine Elliott says that there has been a technical glitch in reporting from Toronto Health so the real number is likely higher.

There are 550 new cases in Toronto, 346 in Peel and 235 in York Region.

In the Thunder Bay District Health Unit, there are 24 new cases of the COVID-19 virus.

11 cases are part of the outbreak at the Valard Construction East-West Tie Project outbreak. There are five new cases at the Thunder Bay District Jail and two new cases at the Thunder Bay Correctional Centre.

Five of the new cases are from CLOSE Contact and one is from travel outside on the district.

Southbridge Roseview is in a confirmed COVID-19 outbreak with 1 active resident and 1 active staff cases. This staff members is currently isolating and recovering at home. It is with deep sadness that we share that 23 residents have passed as a result of this virus.

The outbreak at the Thunder Bay District Jail shows, according to the Solicitor General there have been 14 cases of the virus reported.

13 of the newly reported cases are in Thunder Bay and 11 are in district communities.

Seven cases have been resolved.
