Ontario Reports 3,519 New Cases of COVID-19 and 89 Deaths

Thunder Bay – COVID-19 Update – Ontario is reporting 3,519 cases of COVID-19 on Thursday. This is the fourth day in a row the numbers are over 3000.

The major hot-spots for the virus are Toronto where there were 891 new cases. There were 568 cases recorded in Peel region, 457 in York Region, 208 in Windsor-Essex County, 175 in Waterloo and 174 in Durham.

There were also 89 deaths from the virus.

The figure of 3,519 sets a new daily record for the number of cases of COVID-19 in the province, and comes after the provincial lockdown.

While the figures in the Thunder Bay region are far lower, with daily case numbers far lower, it is at this time unknown if schools will be opening on Monday, January 12th or if the provincial lockdown will be extended.

There have been low-risk exposures reported from the Health Unit on Air Canada flights from Toronto to the Thunder Bay International Airport.
