New Years Day 2021 – Open and Closed in Thunder Bay

Open for Business on New Year's Day?

Thunder Bay – The provincial lockdown has most businesses closed. However on New Years Day, if you are in need of anything, there are some businesses which will be open.

For groceries, SKAFS in Current River will be open.

Shopper’s Drug Mart locations will be open from 10:00 am to 6:00 am.

Thunder Bay Transit is operating on a holiday schedule.

Government offices, banks, restaurants are closed.

Fuel up your vehicle… some service stations will be closed.

Convenience stores will be operating.

Thunder Bay Police, Thunder Bay Fire Rescue, Superior EMS, and the OPP will all be open. If your plan for the holiday is a few beverages of an intoxicating nature, please respect the lives of others, if not your own and don’t drink and drive.

Some notable closures

Pass Lake Restaurant will be closed.

Safeway, Metro and Walmart will be closed. So will Maltese Grocery and Renco Foods. George’s Market will be open until 9:00 PM tonight and closed New Year’s Day.

Looking for a coffee? Bay Village Coffee will be closed. Tim Horton’s locations are reporting they will be closed.
