52-Year-Old Fort Frances Woman Faces Impaired Charges

FORT FRANCES – On the 11th of July, 2020, approximately 15:17 hrs, a concerned citizen alerted officers of the Rainy River District Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police that a driver of a yellow minivan had been consuming alcohol most of the morning while seated in her vehicle.

As police responded to the location of the vehicle, officers observed the vehicle pulling away from the parking lot and proceed to drive through a red light. A traffic stop was conducted and an investigation commenced.

As a result, Paula VANASSE, age 52 years of Fort Frances, ON was charged with Operation of a Motor Vehicle While Impaired contrary to Section 320.14(1)b of the Criminal Code of Canada. She was released by way of an Undertaking and scheduled to appear in the Fort Frances Ontario Court of Justice on the 4th of August, 2020, at 9:30 am to answer to the charge.

None of the charges have been proven in court.
